Outlook Room Finder.
An interactive PowerShell script for new Microsoft 365 tenants: create rooms, build Room Lists, add workspaces, and set place properties, so Room Finder finally shows your rooms in Outlook.
Four steps from empty to organized.
Room Finder helps people locate available meeting rooms and workspaces, but only once each space has a mailbox and is grouped into a Room List. Here's the path the script automates for you.
Create Resources
Provision a room or workspace mailbox for every space your team can book.
Create Room Lists
Build the distribution groups Room Finder reads, one per building or location.
Add Rooms to Lists
Assign each resource mailbox to the Room List for its building.
Set Place Properties
Tag rooms with location, building & capacity so Room Finder filters work.
Each Room List is a Microsoft 365 distribution group that contains the resource mailboxes for each space. We recommend organizing every building into its own logical group for easier management in Room Finder.
Microsoft 365 requires setup in PowerShell.
Resources can be created in the Exchange Admin Center, but Room Lists can't, because there's no web interface to finish the job. Room Finder won't show rooms by location until those lists exist.
